My Benjistan Roster in an offensively minded 3-4-3: Keeper: Oswaldo Sanchez (Mexico) Left Back: Dragnutovic (Serbia) Center Back: Krastic (Serbia) Right Back: Gavranvic (Montenegro Biaches!) Left Mid:Ronaldinhio (Brazil) Left Center Mid: Kaka (Brazil) Right Center Mid: Michael Essien (Ghana) Right Mid: Landon Donavon (USA) Left Forward: Andriy Shevcenko (Ukraine) Striker: Thierry Henry (France) Right Forward: Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast)
Can you tell I mostly watch soccer during the World Cup?
I thought about a lineup like yours, wherein I would put Kaka, Ronaldinho, Juninho, Frank Lampard, and Juan Riquelme in the midfield, but that lineup, like yours, would probably get rocked. The reason why is simple: all of those guys play the same position (i.e. offensive center mid). You need wingers and you need a defensive center mid.
Granted, it's tempting to pick a lot of strikers and offensive center mids, because, generally speaking, they're the best players in the world. However, if your team lets in seven goals thanks to poor defense and the fact that at least two guys have to play out of position, it won't matter if you net five. Hence my decision to include Claude Makelele, who wins balls for the French midfield rather than pushing forward into the attack.
In short, I think your team, despite entertaining the fans with a bevy of goals, would get rocked. I still think you're a sexy, sexy man, though.
Though on the other hand, look at England: Among their midfielders (Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Joe Cole, and David Beckham), there isn't one quality defender in the bunch, and England's still one of the favorites to take the Cup despite the fact that they start Peter Crouch at striker. So who knows, maybe your team would wind up winning the thing.
